Our Technology

The Emerge Diagnostics Electrodiagnostic Functional Assessment (EFA) is a diagnostic evaluation that combines five AMA-accepted diagnostic tests into one comprehensive, objective and reproducible evaluation that includes tests such as:

  • Range of motion
  • Functional assessment (FCE)
  • Pinch strength
  • Grip strength
  • Electromyography (EMG)

The EFA technology is a proprietary FDA-cleared device for the diagnosis of soft-tissue injuries.

EFA Soft Tissue Management
(EFA-STM) Program

The EFA-STM program provides employers with a non-discriminatory approach to determine if there is a work-related change in condition and to provide objective site-specific treatment recommendations for workrelated conditions to help assist the employee with faster recovery times. Once baseline assessments are conducted the results are securely stored and not read unless a work-related incident is reported for a MSC.  If the injury is in a body part that was evaluated on the baseline test, , a second EFA test is  conducted and the results of both tests are compared to determine the best care for the work related condition.,

EFA-STM baselines may be conducted post-offer/pre-placement  or on the existing work force depending on employer preference. No medical questions are asked during a baseline test.

Reducing Recordable Injury Rates

Case Study: J.B. Hunt

J.B. Hunt is a full-service logistics service, employing more than 30,000 people, including approximately 20,000 of whom are truck drivers, all over the United States. Functional capacity testing is common in the industry, and J.B. Hunt needed a reliable pre-employment program to accurately assess candidates as well as to evaluate workplace injuries.

Wellness and The EFA

Using non-invasive technology, our EFA Test can accurately diagnose Musculoskeletal conditions of any muscle group in the body with a focus on back, neck, should and extremities including repetitive stress injury. Our device provides information about your injured muscles that MRIs, X-rays, and CT scans would otherwise miss.

The information we provide your physician from the EFA Test can pinpoint the muscle group location of your Musculoskeletal Conditions, identify their nature, and diagnose their extent and age. Along with this information, our test results provide targeted information, allowing site-specific treatment to improve your care and hasten your recovery. Our EFA Test has been shown to reduce potential misdiagnoses, prevent unnecessary or inappropriate surgeries and treatments, and get you healed and back in action more quickly. With the EFA Wellness evaluation you can also prevent MSC issues from effecting your health

Disability Evaluations

MSC are primary reasons people file disability and social security claims. Most of these cases may be based on subjective complaints or limited functionality. An objective telemedicine visit that includes special disability and social security protocols helps all parties by allowing Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), Health and Human Services (HHS), and other applicants to quantify MSC issues and enable site- specific recommendations with less reliance on narcotics and/or surgeries. By providing an objective diagnosis and treatment guidelines, people receive quicker, more targeted care and may be less reliant on disability. Conversely if there is a need for surgery or ongoing care, the objective EFA assessment will make those recommendations as well. Better diagnosis can lead to better care.

Integrated (IME)-EFA

An Objective solution for Workers’ Compensation and Liability Claims Emerge’s innovative telemedicine solution bridges the gap in medicine  with an objective telemedicine service for MSC. Now, with the EFA technology incorporated into an IME, the telemedicine doctor can have objective information provided by EFA sensors. The doctor can “palpate” multiple muscles simultaneously with range of motion and function, obtaining more information than if the person was sitting in front of the physician.
